SealFoam®
SealFoam® Absorbable Polysaccharide Hemostat is a medical device composed of AMP® (absorbable modified polymer) particles which are very hydrophilic, biocompatible, non-pyrogenic and derived from purified plant starch. SealFoam is a naturally adhesive absorbable hemostatic pad designed to control bleeding during surgical procedures or following traumatic injuries. SealFoam is absorbed in the body within a few days or may be irrigated prior to closure.
1. Use gauze to dry the wound and remove all excess blood.
2. Application: Immediately after removal of excess blood, apply SealFoam® to the entire wound with tongs or a dry finger in a glove.
3. Press: For moderate bleeding, exert direct pressure on the SealFoam® from 1 to 2 minutes.
4. Rinsing: Additional SealFoam® rinsing after reaching hemostasis.
The dewatering process accelerates the normal solidification cascade. Ultra-hydrophilic and adhesive SealFoam® properties are specifically designed to control bleeding and minimize the possibility of re-bleeding. Increased patient safety is due to the fact that SealFoam® does not contain human or animal ingredients and is quickly absorbed into the body within just a few days without leaving any residue. SealFoam® is CE marked.
